Parent Resource Room Open House

Following our Community Night on Feb. 12th (tonight!) in the MPR at 6:00 P.M., our Parent Resource Room will have it's very own Open House on Feb. 19th after drop off.  Come join us for Java with Gina starting in the Resource Room at 9:00 A.M. on the 19th.

Topics of discussion for both events will include Common Core and "Testing of the Test".  See the district website.

Traffic Safety Reminder!

Safety is the most important factor of your child's day here at Soleado.  We pride ourselves in making sure that all students feel safe and secure throughout their day.
But, we need your support to keep the streets and parking lot a safe place for our students as well.

Please remember that you are not allowed to pass cars on Longhill Drive! This means when picking up or dropping off your child and you see line of cars on Longhill waiting to turn into Soleado, it is illegal (and very unsafe) to pass all cars waiting and turn into the Soleado lot.  We all must be patient!   Please wait in line behind all the rest of the cars or use the "park and walk" method to drop off or pick up your child.

Please also remember that the speed limit is 5 mph in the parking lot.  We are  seeing cars driving way too fast through the parking lot.   Please remember that this is a school area and our #1 concern is the safety of the children at Soleado.

We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe during drop off and pick up.

Thank you for your help,
Mrs. Stutzel

The Next PTA/Booster Club General Meeting

Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. in the MPR.  Come hear our next faculty speaker, Mrs. Field from kindergarten.
Thank you to third grade teachers Ms. Hlavac and Mrs. Kearns for speaking yesterday about blending handwritten skills with 21st century learning!  See you all at the next meeting.

February 2014 Art At Your Fingertips: Japonisme Plum Tree

 Created by Erin Eitter Kono

Students will learn how the opening of Japanese trade to the West after 200 years of seclusion changed European art in the mid-nineteenth century.  With this project inspired by Japanese Master Utagawa Hiroshige and European Post-Impressionist Vincent Van Gogh, they will understand how art connects and influences cultures by drawing a plum tree in the Ukiyo-e style using oil pastels on black paper.

Click here for more details on this project
sponsored by the Palos Verdes Art Center.
