Welcome Back From Mrs. Stutzel

August 2014

Dear Soleado Parents/Guardians:

As the remaining summer days become few in number, we begin to look forward to the new school year.  On behalf of the faculty and staff at Soleado Elementary School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new and returning families.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year.

School will begin on Monday, August 25, 2014 with a minimum day schedule.  On this day, all students TK-5th, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and be dismissed at 12:46 p.m.  From 9am – 10am on the first day, our PTA and Booster will be hosting a Welcome Back Tea in the MPR.  If at all possible, please plan on joining us to receive important information about upcoming events at Soleado this year.

On Tuesday, August 26th, we will begin a regular schedule.  Students in 1st and 2nd grades will attend school from 8:30 a.m. to 2:36 p.m.; 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will attend school from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Kindergarten students will begin their day at 8:30a.m. and be dismissed at 2:05 p.m. and our TK students will follow the August 25th schedule (8:30-12:45) for the first week of school. After that time, TK parents will be notified of the specific schedule for the early and late sessions.

Our first day packet is available via the new Parent and Student Web Portal.  You should have received a letter at the beginning of August that contained the necessary information and instructions for setting up your parent account.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please visit the PVPUSD website at www.pvpusd.k12.ca.us.

Our student registration paperwork drop off day is scheduled for Friday, August 22nd from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Our Soleado Booster Club will be providing fun activities that day for students, while their Parents have the opportunity to drop off their paperwork from the online registration.  In addition, our various school organizations will be on hand to inform parents of the many opportunities for involvement at Soleado. TK-K parents will need to return from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a TK and Kindergarten Meet and Greet.

If you have not already done so, we encourage all parents to take advantage of pre-ordering their school supplies through our Soleado School Supply Program.  The donated cost per child is $65 which covers all of your student’s school supplies, as well as, needed grade level and Big Room supplies. The order form is available on our Edline home page http://www.edline.net/pages/Soleado_Elementary, Member Planet, and our Soleado Blog http://volunteeratsoleado.blogspot.com/.  Simply fill it out and submit it with your check made out to Soleado Elementary School or pay with credit card on Member Planet.  The supplies will be delivered to your child’s classroom and stored by their teacher.

Continue to enjoy the remaining days of summer, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Gina Stutzel
Principal
