Principal's Message Soleado Families,
Spring is in the air…It is that time of year to gear up for our Annual Fun Run! This is a wonderful event at Soleado to get our students moving and showing their Soleado Spirit, as well as, earn some money for our school. The Fun Run is a great jump start to our Red Ribbon Week activities. Please keep posted on all of the upcoming events and let's
get running!!!
On another note, Soleado PTA needs your help…. We are still looking for a Recording Secretary for our PTA committee. This position requires very little commitment beyond availability to attend the monthly meetings. Some of the responsibilities are taking minutes at all Executive Board and General Meetings and distribute them for comments in a timely manner, bind all minutes into the official record of the PTA, and have minutes available at meetings for reference.
If you are interested, please contact me directly.
Thank you Soleado Families,
Your Principal~Gina Stutzel

Sill Life In Lines
Created by CeCe Nahin
In this fundamental drawing project, students will learn the history of pen and ink drawing which spans many cultures over many centuries. Using a variety of techniques, they will create a still-life drawing adding shadows by varying line style and using oil pastels to add interest with a punch of color.

Java with Gina Update
If you missed Java with Gina in our Parent Resource Room on Wedneday, February 12 here are some highlights. We had a great suggestion from a parent that we are going to implement in March 2014. It was suggested that we could use the Parent Resource Room as a place for parents to meet occasionally to gather and socialize to get to know one another - especially the parents of younger grades and new families to our school. We will have a standing Soleado Social Hour at school on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 8:30 - 9:30am in the Parent Resource Room starting March 14th.Parents attending can bring their own refreshments. Booster has generously offered to provide a Keurig coffee maker that we can keep in the room for volunteers to utilize at these gatherings.Additionally - we will now post volunteer needs for parents to sign up for on the large white board next to the computer in the Parent Resource Room. This room will continue to evolve over the next few months - but it is heading in the right direction.
In conclusion, Mrs. Stutzel provided information on new state testing for grades 3-5. Our world is changing so fast! Our kids need to be up to speed on problem solving multiple ways. Click on the SBAC logo below to log into a sample test as a guest.
See what 21st Century Learning (and testing) is like!
