If you missed Java with Gina in our Parent Resource Room on Wedneday, February 12 here are some highlights.
We
had a great suggestion from a parent that we are going to implement in
March 2014. It was suggested that we could use the Parent Resource Room
as a place for parents to meet occasionally to gather and socialize to
get to know one another - especially the parents of younger grades and
new families to our school. We will have a standing Soleado Social Hour at school on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 8:30 - 9:30am in the Parent Resource Room starting March 14th.
Parents
attending can bring their own refreshments. Booster has generously
offered to provide a Keurig coffee maker that we can keep in the room
for volunteers to utilize at these gatherings.
Additionally
- we will now post volunteer needs for parents to sign up for on the
large white board next to the computer in the Parent Resource Room. This room will continue to evolve over the next few months - but it is heading in the right direction.
In conclusion, Mrs. Stutzel provided information on new state testing for grades 3-5. Our world is changing so fast! Our kids need to be up to speed on problem solving multiple ways.
