Please read the message below that I sent out on October 25th.....it is a reminder about tomorrow's pick up and drop off plan.

Thank you and Happy Halloween!

Mrs. Stutzel

Parents:

Please read the following about November 1st procedures for dropping off and picking up your child.

The city will be paving Silver Arrow Drive from the entrance off Silver Spur Road.  They will also be repaving Longhill Drive that same day.

So, please prepare for a difficult day of traffic around our school.  Let me suggest the following options for picking up and dropping off your child that day.

1.       Enter on Blackhorse Road and turn right onto Silver Arrow Dr.  Turn left onto Warrior and find a place to park.  Once you have parked, you may walk your child to the Flaming Arrow gate and release them onto campus.

2.       Enter on Blackhorse Road and turn right onto Silver Arrow Dr.  Turn left onto Warrior and then a left onto Browndeer and find a place to park.  Once you have parked, you may walk your child to the Flaming Arrow gate and release them onto campus.

3.       Enter on Beech Gate and follow the road up to where it will dead end because of paving.  Find a place to park and walk your child to the front of the school and release them onto campus.

4.       You will need to follow the same directions to pick up your child.  If you drop them off at  the front of the school, please plan with your child to meet  them at the front of the school.  If you dropped them off at the back of the school (Flaming Arrow entrance) plan on meeting them at the back of the school for pick up.

Please note OCTOBER 31ST, BEECHGATE WILL BE CLOSED DUE TO REPAVING!  But we will still be having our Halloween Parade at 9:00am.  Please come join the fun!

I have attached a map for your convenience.

Thank you,

Gina Stutzel

Booster Updates

 FAMILY PHOTO SESSIONS NOW AVAILABLE:

Capture this moment in your family's time with a portrait from On Location Photography, and help us to raise money for the Soleado Booster Club!  On Saturday, November 2nd and Saturday November 16th, On Location Photography will set up at some of Palos Verdes' beautiful locations for 15-minute sittings with our families.  Just sign up for a time, arrive a few minutes before, and 15 minutes later, you'll have a picture to help remember this time forever.

The 15 minute session costs $30 and includes a free 5 x 7 print.  Other images and holiday cards are available for purchase.  The sitting fee and 10% of all purchases will be donated to Soleado.

Just think, no traveling to a portrait studio, no asking family members to take pictures, no wondering where to take the kids to pose for this year's holiday photo.  15 minutes and you're done.

This Week At Soleado 10/28-11/1

Hello everyone,

Happy Sunday Soleado Families!! It was a pleasure seeing so many Soleado Suns this morning at the Skechers Walk.
This week is full of important events and activities that you should mark on your calendars.

Character Counts Pillar For The Month: Caring.

The Character Counts Coalition uses the color red to symbolize the pillar of Caring.
This month our students will be focusing on the pillar of Caring.  There are two main ideas that apply to the pillar of caring.
  • Concern for others: Show compassion and empathy. Be kind, loving and considerate in your actions. Be grateful for the things people do for you. Forgive the shortcomings of others. Don’t be mean or cruel to others. Be sensitive of other's feelings.
  • Compassion: Children can learn that people should be considerate and caring. Instead of ignoring hurt, confusion, anger and sadness they can learn that people should reach out to one another. As Plato quoted “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle!” we can never tell what difficulties another person is facing, and your kind word or action might make all the difference.

Last Week to Sign Up!

Soleado Parents,

Our Soleado goal for Sketchers this year is $3,375. We are currently at $1,150, so we need 89 more walkers to sign up at $25/person ($2,225).

Last year, Sketchers gave PVPUSD $105,000 for our district's participation in the event!
This is a great way to contribute to the PEF Goal for this year.
Remember, you do not need to be present at the walk to get a goody bag from Sketchers, which can be picked up at Equinox Palos Verdes before the event.

Remember, it's only $25/person and registering virtually is still makes an impact, even if you can't attend the walk it will be fun!

Everyone who signs up should print out their confirmations and bring them with you to school on the Monday following the walk so that they can be a part of our Popsicle Party!!!  Everyone that registered will be invited to the party!

This is our last week to sign up, so click on the link below and let's have some fun walking together!!

Thank you and see you at the walk!

We Appreciate Volunteers!

The Give With Target Facebook promotion has closed for this year and we were able to earn $149 for Soleado!  Many thanks to everyone who voted, and we hope it showed how easy fundraising can be!  The Soleado Booster Club will use Target gift cards as contest and raffle prizes and for supplies throughout our fundraising year, so every vote mattered.  Be sure to look for this promotion again next August and September and let's keep doing what we can for our school.

A very special thank you to Eva Ruiz, Noelle Whitaker and Jennifer Farrell for the fantastic SOUPER HERO staff luncheon!!  Thank you also to the parents who cooked soup, donated supplies and additional goodies to treat the teaching staff.

A big thanks to the Book Fair Volunteers who gave up their time and effort to help kids find and purchase books at our week long event from Sep. 30 to Oct. 4.  Thank you to our Book Fair coordinator Jennifer Wong for being there everyday and making sure all was running smooth.  Set up and clean up volunteers had no small feat either.  The Book Fair is a community effort that benefits everyone here at Soleado!

Thank you to the Korean Parents Asociation for donating $1,000 to our school!  Principal Stutzel gladly accepted the check from KPA president Rosa Kim at our last PTA meeting
