Soleado Parents,

The nominating committee will be meeting to begin forming the Soleado PTA Board for the 2015/2016 School Year.  Please take a few minutes to think about who you think would be a good leader/advocate for Soleado and its students.  We are asking that you CLICK HERE to fill out the straw ballot  

We have also included descriptions of the board positions, as well as chair positions under each Vice President for you to review here.   If anyone is interested in getting involved, but does not want to serve on the PTA Board, volunteering to be a chairperson is a great way.  We hope to see many new faces next year.  Thanks for your support.

Important events for January and February at Soleado

Soleado Parents,

Just a few fun and important events to mark down on your calendars for January and February…

·         PTA/ Booster General Meeting on Tuesday, January 13 at 9:00am. Mrs. Beall will be our teacher representative talking about the STEM program at Soleado.

·         Family Social on January 14^th from 3-7pm at PUMP IT UP in Torrance. Tickets cost $15 preordered or $17 at the door. A flyer will come home with more information this week. FUN IS GUARENTEED! 60% of all sales go back to Soleado…so come by and enjoy a fun filled night out with the kids! (Dinner can be purchased as well)

·         Father/Daughter- Mother/Son Dance on February 6^th from 7-9pm. This event raises money for our school, but more importantly, it is a memory that you will share with your child forever. More information to come…

·         Parent Education Night at Silver Spur Elementary Schoolon February 3^rd 6:30pm. A special guest speaker, Lori Getz, will educate us on the topics of Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety. 

·         Join our year-round supporters…Joey's Smokin' Bar-B-Que , Highridge Car Wash , and Amazon are all committed to support Soleado School with YEAR ROUND fundraising. 

o   We get 10% of all Soleado Family purchases at Joey's Smokin' Bar-B-Que. 

o   The Highridge Car Wash gives us 10% for every Soleado car washed on Tuesdays!

o   Amazon- with link on Edline- gives Soleado money back on every purchase you make!

 Remember, giving a little or a lot makes a big difference for our programs to continue at Soleado!

Upcoming events at Soleado

Happy New Year Soleado Families!

It was so enjoyable to come back from a delightful winter break to the sunshine at Soleado. I hope that you and your family enjoyed the break and were able to spend some quality time together.

I would like to make you aware of some exciting Parent Education Nights coming up in January. 

On January 20^th from 7-8pm at Ridgecrest Intermediate School, our Safe School Coordinators will be presenting Internet &Technology Safety. This will include a discussion on laws, online resources for parents, how to monitor your child use of technology, and other important information related to the topic of internet safety.

On January 26^th from 6-7:45pm at Soleado, some of our wonderful Soleado Teachers will host a Parent Math Night. As you rotate through the classrooms, the teachers will discuss some of the changes in math and how we are beginning to teach it differently than it was in the past. 

NO SCHOOL on January 19^th and January 30^th.

I will send you information by the end of the week in regards to upcoming BOOSTER CLUB events for January and February. We have a Family Social scheduled for January 14^th and a Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance on February 6^th…more information to follow….

Reminder of this week's music assemblies for parents

Just a friendly reminder of the musical assemblies for parents this week...

Wednesday-

• 3rd Grade Music Performance for their parents in Vista Big Room at 2:30

Thursday-

• 4^th and 5^th grade instrumental concert in the MPR 9-10:00
• 4^th and 5^th grade singing for parents directly after instrumental at 10:00-10:30 in the MPR
• 1^st and 2^nd grade singing for parents at 11:00-12:00 in the MPR
• TK/K singing for parents at 1:00-1:30 in the MPR

Classroom parties, singing songs, colorful art projects are all part of the Holiday Joy at Soleado this week.

Holiday Schedule Update

Happy Holidays Soleado Parents,

There is a change of plans for our ALL SCHOOL SING schedule.   There is more rain in our future, which is a good thing, but it will create a bit of chaos for our ALL SCHOOL SING plans. 

So to make all of our lives a bit simpler, we are canceling the outside ALL SCHOOL SING for parents this year.  Instead, the students will meet in the MPR and sing their songs for each other that day.

BUT…we have not forgotten you!  Parents can participate on Thursday for our scheduled Holiday music performances.

The Thursday performance schedule for parents is as follows:

9-10:30am -4^th and 5^th grade music concert and song performances in the MPR

11:00-12:00pm- 1^st and 2^nd grade song performances in the MPR

1:00-1:30pm- TK and Kindergarten song performance in the MPR

and

3^rd grade will invite their parents in on Wednesday next week at 2:30 for their class party and singing performance in the Vista building.

Parent's Night Out!

Soleado Parents,

Need to get some holiday shopping done?  Need a date night with your spouse?  Need a few hours alone to get some work done? 

 

Well then come on by Soleado next Friday, December 12 from 6-10pm  for our Parent's Night Out event!

 

Their will be Arts, Crafts, Pizza, Popcorn and Entertainment for your child to enjoy !

 

RSVP using the flyer that will come home on Monday or you can drop a check off at the office.  

 

$40 per child and only $35 for each additional sibling which all goes back to the Booster Club.
